Eleni Nicholas is a soprano from Durham, North Carolina. She graduated from the Eastman School of Music in May with her Bachelor’s of Music in vocal performance, where she studied with Grammy Award-winning tenor Robert Swensen.

 

During her time with Eastman Opera Theatre, Eleni was seen as Mother in Paola Prestini's Silent Light, performed in the Feral Children’s Chorus in Allen Shawn's H&G: a great and terrible story, and covered the role of Nuria in Osvaldo Golijov's Ainadamar. Eleni is also a frequent recitalist, with her most recent performances including a recital on Signal Mountain, Tennessee (July 2025), her Eastman School degree recital (April 2025), a lieder recital in Rochester (April 2025), and a recital in her hometown of Durham, NC (July 2024). 

 

Eleni is continuing her studies at the University of South Carolina where she is pursuing a Masters in Opera Theatre Performance in the studio of Rachel Calloway. She is excited to perform the titular role of Thérèse / Tirésias in Opera at USC's production of Les Mamelles de Tirésias in February 2026.

In addition to performing, Eleni also has a passion for arts administration and is hired as the Marketing and Social Media Director for the Ears Wide Open concert series at USC as well as an Opera Theatre GA.
